Pittsburg State University Philosophical Society

The PSU Philosophical Society Has not scheduled meeting times for spring 2007

The PSU Philosophical Society promotes philosophical activity at Pittsburg State University by sponsoring speakers, supporting library acquisitions, addressing philosophical questions through published writings by its members as well as other students and faculty of PSU, and taking trips to philosophical conferences.  Faculty Advisor: Dr. Donald Wayne Viney (dviney@pittstate.edu )

Activities of the PSU Philosophical Society in the past:

  • Trip to Manhattan, Kansas to see lecture by Professor Michael Ruse.
  • Publication of Logos-Sophia: The Journal of the Pittsburg State University Philosophical Society
  • Weekly Meetings at Java Dave's
  • Speakers Series - Fall Semester 2005 Dr. Douglas Patterson (Kansas State University) "Some Issues in the Definition of Truth"
  • Trip to the Kansas Philosophical Society meeting in Wichita, KS, February, 2006.
  • Weekly Meetings in the Overman Student Center.
  • Speaker Series - Dr. Mark L. Price (Columbia College) "Autonomy and Solicitude in End of Life Care", March 31st, 2006, Overman Student Center, Balkans Room, 3:00pm to 5:00 pm.   
  • Speaker Series - Dr. Sandra LaPointe (Kansas State University) "How to be an Anti-Psychologist: Husserl" April 2006.
